The Wiki Game
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (just kidding)
Not to be confused with actually editing Wikipedia.
The Wiki Game is a mobile game based on the concept of navigating between Wikipedia articles using only hyperlinks. Players are given a starting article and a target article, and must find a path between them by clicking links within each page. The goal is to reach the target in as few clicks as possible.
Gameplay [play]
Each round presents players with two Wikipedia articles: a starting point and a destination. For example, a player might need to navigate from Pizza to Moon landing. The challenge lies in finding connections between seemingly unrelated topics through the web of Wikipedia's internal links.
The game tests both general knowledge and lateral thinking. Experienced players learn common "hub" articles that connect to many topics, such as United States, World War II, or Philosophy.
Features [more]
The game includes over 100 handcrafted levels across multiple difficulty tiers, from beginner-friendly connections to expert-level challenges requiring obscure knowledge paths. A daily challenge mode presents all players with the same puzzle, with results posted to a global leaderboard.
Players can challenge friends directly, with the winner determined by whoever completes the path in fewer clicks. The game supports multiple Wikipedia language editions, allowing players to navigate the encyclopedia in their preferred language.
Reception [cite]
The concept of "wiki racing" or "wiki golf" has existed as an informal game since Wikipedia's early years. The Wiki Game brings this format to mobile with a polished interface and competitive features. Players have described it as "addictive" and "a great way to learn random facts."
